I have recorded my 3rd solo album entitled : All or Nothing and it is off at the pressing plant to be available at gigs only from Jan onwards ready for my European tour.
Also of interest may be the double dvd entitled : Head over Wheels which is also only available at gigs and contains over 3 hours of footage from gigs to afterpartys, interviews and rehearsals with the band and our first performance at Ronnie Scotts.
Over next day or two my web guy should be putting up some radio interviews and recordings in the Media seaction of my website.
If anyone can help me get some more gigs in Holland please get in touch as I have gaps I need filling.
Matron!!
Best wishes

Thank you to the guys at Keighley Blues club for accomodating me after arriving 25 mins late for my set. Had a mega journey and had to phone from a service station to say I was on my way. Hate being late, thanks to Dad for passing on message. Hope to return someday for a headline when rich and famous!! Set was great in the end though and I think I piced up a couple new fans!?!? Cheers for getting me drunk and putting me up for the night!
Also had a fab time at the Fighting Cocks in Stottesdon - what a great traditional pub with top food, friendly people and genuine music enthusiasts. Looking forward to returning when I get back from France leg of tour.
Speaking of my European tour....if anyonw has any gig contacts please do get in touch :)

Another mega weekend with a lot of driving but it was all worth it and hopefully we picked up a few new fans!
Drove down to Exeter to stay the night with my friends Andy and Rachael (still owe you a tenner!), watched a bit of ‘Play Your Cards Right’ – as you do, and headed off to see James S down in Cornwall. James does the artwork designs for my albums and you can find a link to his website on the Links section. Fri 2nd - The first gig that evening was only 4 miles from his house so worked out nicely, playing a double headliner with ‘Sun on Water’. Gig was ok and generally well received. So after the biggest kebab you’ve ever seen, back to James to watch Cool Runnings – as you do!
Sat 3rd – Hour drive over to the next gig in Camelford which was a 50th birthday party Adji had got us involved in. Apart from the dear old lady asking us to turn it down as she was having to write notes to communicate, it was a great gig and a nice little warm up for the gig in the evening. Playing 2 gigs in 1 day with the band makes Matt Woosey a happy boy . We all left together in James’ van to head to Penryn for the gig at Miss Peapods. I hope it is not just my own opinion of the night that we played really well and impressed a few people?!?! I think we did and the guys seemed to be nice and limber from our gig in the arvo. We jammed a couple things at the end cuz we were feeling groovy like that! Also on the bill that night was Nina Bailey who was excellent as was Bethia Beadman. Exhausted and hungry, we jumped back in the van, headed back to Camelford and slept the night there while James headed back to his family who were on holls in Devon. Thank you cornwall!
Sunday 4th – Afternoon gig at the newish venue – Ye Olde Farmhouse, Bath. Great to meet some of the local songwriters of Bath and I hope to do a lot more there having done so much in Bristol. Nice to meet Doug who I think might book the band in for a Friday gig here. Nice little gig in the corner of the room and people just sat and listened at the bar. Great also, to bump into Rob the landlord who was also the landlord at the infamous ‘Lamb’ in West Malvern. Ahhh the memories….or not!

29th August 2011
Now, thats how to do a weekend!!!! Thursday 25th August - A return to The Boat in Penalt, Nr Monmouth. Made the trip down with my mate Adam, got there early, went for a bit of a walk along the river, over the bridge into England and around the beautiful Welsh surroundings too. We discussed plans of shooting a video there and laughed about how we will never actually do it but instead add it to the list of things we never did! Did this gig with Adji and ran out of songs to play so we jammed a couple of new ones at the end including what I hope will become a standard in the set, a new funky version of Rory Gallaghers Too Much Alcohol. Adji also played Black Smoke Rising with me flawlessly having never heard it before. Its only rocknroll after all!! Nice one Adj. Thanks to those of you who came along to see us having been to gigs elsewhere.
Friday 26th - Big old boring drive up to Shambala Festival Nr Kettering. Arrived in the pouring rain but had an overwhelming feeling that there was nothing, including the weather, that was going to make this festival anything but a great big laugh and a fab gig. Turned out to be a justified feeling, performing on the Compass Tent Stage at 8.40 run ablehandedly (is that a word?)by Barny and Tara (who I met when I played at their wedding with Oli Dennison and Dave Johns). I didnt want to stop playing that night as the crowd were great and the atmosphere was jolly, if you know what I mean :) Finished the gig with a couple of encores and headed over to another stage to have a second slot which Lady Nade secured for me earlier in the day. Completely different gig and a different set of songs for this quiet venue. It was a shoes off and tranquil kind of tent. Also played a set with Lady Nade who called me up to play a version of John Martyns I dont Wanna Know. Nice to play with Adam on double bass too and the 3 of us had a groovy vibe going on even if the sound was a bit dodgy. Performing out of the way, we partied til 6 in the morning and enjoyed being alive!!
Saturday 27th - Having slept the night off and watched The Princess Bride in the Compass tent, I hopped over to Grantham, where I had another little kip in the back of the car, picked up an LP player from Big Rog to take back to Bristol and start a record collection with Bada. Having been double booked at The Nobody Inn, I didnt need the pa so dumped it at my friend Luke Hadlows house where I had an impromptu BBQ with Scouse, Harriet, Luke and Sam (not forgetting Dylan and Jack the dogs). The other dude, Micky Flynn, and I decided to share the bill and played half the night each. The gig was ok, but had it not been for the guys all coming along and some Cambridge Folk Festival friends turning up I think it would have been a wash out. So back to have a few cold ones at the Hadlows and watch MOTD with Luke and Scouse.
Sunday 28th - Drove back down South to Shirenewton for ShireFest which was a Help for Heros do. Full MW band gig which took place in a pub as the arctic with the Pa on was having crossover problems and power issues. Did the new tunes, which Adji had played once already by now, and which James was about to learn, sharpish!! It went well, if a little fast paced at points. Bumped into a friend from a long time ago, Nick Lapit, who was the guitar player in the Thin Lizzy tribute (Vlack Rose) I played in as the drummer when I was still at school. Nick is one of the best guitar players I have seen to this date and now plays in The Ha Has. It was nice to see him and it brought back a lot of good memories about my introduction to RonknRoll. The other guys in that band were a couple decades older than me and taught me a lot about playing and performing. Nice to play with James and Adj, if only we did some practices we could capitalise on the ground we are covering. Time is tight though and we are all busy people.
Same day, different gig. Up to the Highbury Vaults on St Michaels Hill in Bristol as part of the Party on the Hill which involved closing the street off and, well, partying on the hill. Most people seemed to be a little wobbly by the time I was due to start at half 7 out in the garden. I tried to use this to my advantage and just did an hour and half of the more footstomping stuff, got the obligitory request to play a Johnny Cash song, which I politely declined. Nailed this set and really felt like I had the audience on my side, ran out of songs so did Grinnin in Your Face to finish up and then hung out with a couple new friends I met that evening, then headed home. In all, lots of driving, lots of playing and lots of fun. Bring on the next!
25th August 2011
A Wednesday night off, hmmmm, what to do?!?! No decision really, it has to be the open mic at the Leftbank in Bristol. Got there early, about 9ish, but didnt get on till half 11 so nicely lubricated for the 4 songs I played. Match fit indeed! Went down well though, enjoyed playing. Hung out with the guys from Bel Espirit, great night out and I look forward to collaborating with them in the future. Off to wales now for the gig tonight.
23rd August 2011
So, for those of you who know me youll be surprised to hear I ended up in a fight after last nights open mic at the Huntsman in Bath. Just hanging out with my French friend Amy when 2 guys started bugging us ending up in my favourite Led Zeppelin top in the world being ripped from my back. Was a shame as the evening up to that point was really great. John Martyn would be proud!! Played my new tune Black Smoke Rising and I look forward to playing it again soon in a town near you.

5th October 2007
Malvern musicians Matt Woosey and James Elliot-Williams have teamed up to work on a new music project “Matt Woosey and the Strange Rain”. After playing an impromptu set at The Lamb Inn as apart of West Fest back in August and fuelled by the reaction from the crowd coupled with the buzz the two got from the performance led them into discussing the formation of this new project.
Demo work has already begun on an album which will be based around Matt’s acoustic based songs, augmented by James’ percussion and drum playing. The recorded works will also feature special guest appearances from friends of the band. The album is scheduled to be finished by January and will be followed by extensive live work to promote the release. To join the mailing list and to be kept in contact with the latest news send an e-mail to: mattwooseyandthestrangerain@hotmail.co.uk
The duo will be doing a few gigs to play in the material, including a performance on Sunday 14th October at Worcester’s, The Marr’s Bar. Tickets are available from the band or on the door, anyone interested please e-mail: drumluv@hotmail.com to reserve your tickets.
